John Moreno, LMSW
Just a few questions:
- Have you felt stuck, stagnant, or just not where you want to be?
- Do you feel sad for reasons you don’t understand
- Are you struggling with negative self-talk regularly and want to get control of the narrative?
- Do your emotions get the best of you and you want to learn to control them better?
- Do you often find yourself taking substances in order to just deal with the day-to-day?
If you said “yes” to any of those questions then I want you to know it’s okay to have felt that way. It’s okay to not feel great about things. But you’re here, and you’re looking. And that is where your journey will begin. It will take hard work but progress never has to be perfect, it just has to be progress.
More About Your Therapist:
I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker, supervised by Norman Harold Cobb, PhD, LCSW, specializing in substance abuse, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. The vast majority of my experience comes from working with clients wanting or needing to make changes to improve their lives. I’ve worked with clients who were quitting substances, bad habits, miserable jobs, or toxic relationships. I’ve also worked with clients in inpatient settings, having just attempted suicide, to those needing outpatient counseling in order to continue the work they already started while inpatient.
I utilize empathic listening and Motivational Interviewing to get a better sense of who you are and what you’re seeking. I also have extensive training in Solution Focused Therapy. I absolutely believe in being genuine and creating a non-judgmental space for you to share. My goal is not to give you advice, instead, I’d rather help you find the solutions that best suit your needs.
I have found over my experiences that I truly enjoy watching people slowly begin to believe in themselves and their ability to overcome whatever life throws at them. When that resilience shows itself and clients believe they can get through things, it is a sight to behold. And I’m here to tell you, that you can and will do it, and I’ll be here to help you every step of the way.
Here is some background information about me. I was born in New Mexico but came to Texas as soon as I could. I grew up in West Texas and have been in the DFW since attending graduate school… about 10 years ago. I am an animal lover and my English Bulldog is my best friend. I’ve always been good at making people feel comfortable enough to talk to me… and have been that friend, family member, and person to so many… graduate school just helped me hone those skills even more.
If you’re here reading this, then you’re likely looking for some help. That means you’re ready for change in your life one way or another. I look forward to helping you on this journey.
